Logs are another way to write exponents. log1.jpg This shows ‘The common log’. When a base is left out, it is assumed to be base ‘10’ My curiousity was sparked by a Chain Rule problem, which included ln in the answer. I did not know how to handle ln. ln is ‘the natural log’. It involves a relationship with an unknown variable ‘e’, which is its base.
